Course Description
This program, featuring experts in the field of end-of-life care and pain management, will provide health care professionals with information on the following topics:
- pain management
- communication
- hospice
- outcomes of palliative care teams
- assessing decision-making capacity
- use of the POST form
Educational Objectives
After viewing this program, providers should be able to:
- describe principles for advanced pain management including opioid rotation and use of adjuvant medications
- present the crucial role of communication determine when hospice referral is appropriate
- identify the improved outcomes with palliates care teams in hospitals in WV
- perform an assessment of decision-making capacity
- develop an approach to using the POST form in his/her practice
Course Credit
The WVU School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The WVU Office of CME designates this educational activity for maximum of 2 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.
